Thelma Charlotte (Sinclair) Wark.
Thelma was born January 5th, 1907 at Lampman, SK, the eldest of 9 children born to William and Minnie Sinclair. She married Joseph Wark June 29th, 1927 at Lampman. They farmed at Kisbey, SK until 1931, when drought conditions forced them to move north to the Shannon District west of Nipawin. Here they worked the farm together and raised 4 children, until 1966, when they moved to their house on Main Street in Nipawin.
In 1983 Joe and Thelma were one of the first residents to move into Pioneer House, a seniors' housing apartment in Nipawin. Joe passed away in August 1984 and Thelma continued to live in Suite 304 until February 2007.
Thelma was a typical "Grandma" to her own family as well as every other small child or baby she met. She was an excellent seamstress and made thousands of beautiful knit and crocheted items to give to family, friends and Charities. She was a wonderful cook and you never left Gram's without a meal or lunch and tea, and always homemade buns or baking to take home.
Gram was always interested in her family's lives and could be counted on to lend a sympathetic ear and many words of wisdom to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Thelma had a deep Christian faith and she and Joe were active members of the Lutheran Church for many years. Thelma was admitted to Nipawin Hospital in February 2007 and spent 5 weeks there. Despite failing health, her mind remained alert and active. She was most grateful for the loving care she received from all the staff there. March 22nd, 2007 she moved to Pineview Lodge. Despite missing the staff at the hospital, she adjusted well to her new home and soon loved all her new caregivers. She passed away peacefully at PVL on April 23rd, 2007. Thelma was predeceased by her husband Joe; her parents; 6 brothers; 2 sisters and son-in-law Allan Munro.
Thelma leaves to treasure her memory her sons: Bill (Velma) of rural Nipawin, Joe (Binnie) - Quesnel, BC., Earl - Prince George, BC, and daughter Esther (Fred Becker) - Rocanville, SK; grandchildren: Dwight Wark (Maureen), Dwayne & Glenna Wark, Wayne & Julie Wark, Lyle Wark, Charlene & Don Munro and Lorraine Fardal; also granddaughter-in-law Kathy (Wayne) Bolme; 13 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren.
Grandma was a proud, independent woman, who was always more concerned about others than herself. She loved her family unconditionally and will be greatly missed. We love you Gram and know you will always watch over us.
The family wish to thank all homecare, hospital and PVL staff, Medical Group Doctors, Dr. Cronje and Dr. Rye for all the TLC given to Grandma. She appreciated it so much and loved you all. Special thanks for all the "extras" done for Gram and her family the last 3 days of her life. Also to Rosemarie and Basil and staff of Heritage Funeral Home for all their help.
We are so fortunate to have such caring and compassionate people in our community. God Bless you all.
Condolences to the family may also be expressed by e-mail to: heritagefuneral@sasktel.net or online at www.heritagefuneral.ca
Arrangements have been entrusted to Heritage Funeral Home Ltd., Basil and Rosemarie Forsberg, Jaylene Froese.
