Mrs. L. Budd funeral Friday

Funeral service will be conducted from Wadena United Church, Friday, August 25, at 1:00 p.m., for Mrs. Lorena Budd, 86, of Wadena, whose passing occured Tuesday afternoon, August 22, in the Wadena Union Hospital.

Mrs. Budd had been making her home with Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Budd of Wadena, A Son and daughter-in-law

Funeral held Aug. 25 for Mrs. Lorena Budd, early resident of this area.

Funeral service was held in the Wadens United Church on Friday, August 26 for Mrs. Lorena Budd, an early resident of this area. Mrs. Budd had been making her home in Wadena with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Budd, at the time of her passing.

Her death occurred in the Wadena Union Hospital on Tuesday, August 22, following a brief illness.

Mrs. Budd was keenly interested in life and in the many friends she possessed. An active curler she was one of the first members of the Wadena Woman's Curling Club,. She was a member of the United Church, the Ladies' Orange Lodge, Westport Homemakers, the afternoon unite of the United Church Women, the Legion Auxiliary, and she won a badge for her work with the Red Cross.

Lorena Sarah Watt, 86, on last April 24, was born in Perth, Ontario. She was married November 25, 1903, at Glasston, North Dakota, to Mr. Eli Budd. The family moved to Oyen, Alberta, in 1908 and homesteaded there. In 1919 they came to Saskatchewan, settling north of Wadena and later in Wadena where they lived until 1934. That year the family moved to Ontario where Mrs. Budd worked for about 13 years as a bookkeeper for the Massey Harris in Toronto.

In 1946 Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Budd bought the hotel at Endeavour, Saskatchewan, and Mr. and Mrs. Budd Sr. came west to make their home there in 1949. When Mr. and Mrs. Budd sold out at Endeavour in 1961, and moved to Wadena Mr. and Mrs. Budd Sr. came with them. Mr. Eli Budd passed away on January 16, 1966.

Mrs. Budd leaves to mourn her loss two sons, Cecil of Wadena; and Keith of Weldon; a foster daughter, Mrs. Irene Parrish of Toronto; her two daughters-in-law; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Rev. J. R. Morrison, United Church minister officiated at the service and burial was in the Wadena cemetery. Narfason's Funeral Chapel was in charge of burial arrangements.

Honary pallbearers were Mrs. Alex Tait, Mrs. Gladys Claxton, Mrs. Fleet Best, R. J. Somers, Sam Love, R. E. Forbes, while officiating actively were Clifford Lee, Everet Riner, Otto Tolen, John Mirka, Francis Weber and Gotfred Smith.

Attending the funeral from a distance were Mr. Keith Budd from Weldon; Mr. Herb Budd of Saskatoon; Mrs. Gladys McDonald of Richard; Mrs. Mildred Haley of Totonto; Mrs. Elizabeth Armstrong of Star City; Mr. and Mrs. Murray Bryson of Young; August and Gotfred Smith og Rose Valley; Mrs. Agnes Whitehead of Kelvington; Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Mirka of Porcupine Plain; Lawrence Smale of Winnipeg; Mr. and Mrs. R. Gaston of Weldon.
