Howard Palmgren

Galesburg -- Howard T. Palmgren, 77, of 548 Marmac Drive died at 1:57 a.m. Friday, March 13, 1992, at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

Born Feb. 20, 1915, in Galeburg to John and Ethel Myers Palmgren, he was raised by his stepmother, Mrs. Olive Custer Palmgren. He married Muriel E. Norgart on Jan. 15, 1937, in Galesburg. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Jeffrey and John, and one daughter, Mrs. Jim (Diane) Eager, all of Galesburg; and eight grandchildren.

He was owner-operator of Palmgren Floor Coverings in Galesburg for 38 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of First Christian Church, Vesper Masonic Lodge 584, American Legion Post 285 and a past member of the Cosmopolitan Club, Elks Lodge and Moose Lodge, all in Galesburg. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He was an Eagle Scout and a Troop Master of the Elks Club.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. The Rev. J.T. Moore will officiate. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff- Pearson-West Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
