J. Hanna

Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday at then Hall- Van Hook Funeral Chapel for Herman John Hanna, 72, 14 Dean Way, who died Monday at a local hospital.

Born May 6, 1906 in Drayton, N.D. to John and Harriett Hanna, he was reared and attended schools in that state.

On Nov. 25, 1925, he married Margaret Arensen in St. Thomas, N.D. In 1942 they moved to Chico and he was employed at the Chico Army Air Base during World War II.

He was in the gravel and cement business for a time and then was self-employed in the rental and real estate business. Mrs. Hanna died in 1975.

He is survived by two sons, Ray Hanna of Chico and Eugene Hanna of El Cerrito; four daughters, Virginia Doty of Yuba City, Dorothy Casebeer of McKinleyville, Grace Ramsey of Hemet and Beverly Hanna of Cincinati, Ohio; his mother Etta Hanna of Chico; two sisters Edna Nelson of Chico and Minerva Smith of Stockton; eight grandchildren and ten greatgrandchildren.

Pastor Chris Buchanan of the Chico Evangelical Free Church will officiate at the service.

Norman Sanberg will be the organist and Merrill Womach will offer special solo selections of Just a Closer Walk With Thee" and "Old Rugged Cross".

Serving as casketbearers will be friends and family members Raymond Hanna, Christopher Geyer, Keven Casebeer, Eugene Hanna, Virgil Nelson, Charles Doty, Daniel Mattson and James Gard.

Burial will follow the service in Glen Oaks Memorial Park.

Friends may visit from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the Hall-Van Hook Funeral Chapel.
