Mother, Daughter Drowned at Drayton
Drayton- Searchers were still probing the Red River Monday night for the body of a three year old Drayton girl who drowned with her mother in a boating accident at about nine o'clock Monday night.
Dead are Mrs Timothy Sullivan, 28, her daughter, Joyce, 3 of Drayton. Mrs. Sullivan's body was recovered shortly after the tragedy.
The victims and Mrs. Sullivan's husband and his brother and sister in law, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Sullivan were in the boat. The boat slipped some water and made a quick turn throwing the occupants into the river. When they tried to get back in the boat it tipped.
The craft, designed for 6 people, was a new all metal boat with an outboard motor.
Volunteer workers headed by Don Halcrow, waded through the shallow parts of the stream and dragged the deeper middle channel Monday night but had not recovered the little body at the time this was written.
